Airport travel from York Station

Leeds Bradford Airport to York Station

Although York is accessible by 4 international airports, the closest and easiest one to get to is the Leeds Bradford Airport. Start by catching the 747 or A1 Flyer bus from the airport to Leeds train station. From there, you can catch a train directly to York Station via the Transpennine Express. The train ride cost should start at £11.00, and the bus ticket price is about £2.00. Overall, it’ll take just over an hour to reach the airport from the York railway station.

Getting around York from York Station

Ready to get out and see the rest of York? Although not all of the city’s attractions are within walking distance from the train station, traveling from here will definitely make it easier to get to other places in York. York Dungeon

York Minster

York Minster is one of the city’s most impressive buildings. The grand cathedral dates back to the 7th century and is intricately designed and detailed both inside and out. You’ll be amazed by the incredible facade of the building, as well as the stained glass windows and carved stonework. If you’re up for it, take a walk up the 275 steps to admire the view from the Minster’s highest point. 

To get here from York Station, travel by foot to Station Avenue and hop on the 6 bus. Ride until the stop at Theatre Royal, the York Minster will be just a 5 minute walk away from there. Your bus ticket should cost £2.20.

York City Walls

Did you know that York is surrounded by impressive walls that once protected the city? The fortifications were built by the Romans and are actually the longest walls barrier in the entire country. You can take a walk along the walls, although going the entire way will take several hours. Along the way you’ll come across plaques giving you insight on the walls’ history, or you can book a guided tour instead. 

To reach the walls, go to Rougier Street and ride the 6 bus to the stop at Peasholme Green. The walls are about 5 minutes away from there by foot. As usual, the bus ticket price should be about £2.20.
